Victorian Gold Wrapped Tusk Brooch

Jungle fever sets in with this real wild boar or pig tusk's brooch. It is wrapped in warm hand-engraved soft rose gold with the top entirely covered. At the top sits a centered golden orb. The other end is also wrapped in the precious metal near the tip. The original tube hinge, "C" clasp and pin mechanism are on the reverse.
Condition: Very good; on the reverse tube hinge reinforced with some solder evident on one side when viewed closely. Otherwise excellent.
Measurements: Length from gold orb to tip is 2-5/16 inches (5.9 cm) by 5/8 of an inch (1.5 cm) at the widest.
Date & Origin: Circa 1880 and is most likely English in origin.
