At the Heart - Emerald Diamond Locket Pendant
Lockets, hearts, diamonds and emeralds...this little treasure has it all. A later 19th century Victorian heart pendant is encrusted with rose cut diamonds and set with a vivid emerald. On the reverse, a glass-covered locket compartment will open with a careful touch of a fingernail. It is complete with its original diamond-set top bale.
Forty-two (42) graduated rose cut diamonds play across the surface of the heart. Each visually varies in size from less than .01 to .05 (rose cuts are flat at the back so often appear a bit larger than their weight). The total estimated diamond weight is .75 carats.
At the center a lush vivid emerald is cut in a teardrop or elongated pear shape. It measures 6 mm by 3.5 mm and is approximately .20 carats.
Condition: Excellent with a small amount of surface wear to the emerald.
Measurements: Heart measures less than 7/8 of an inch (2.1 cm) in total length including a ¼ of an inch (0.6 cm) bale by 1/2 of an inch (1.3 cm) in width. Chain measures 16 inches (40.6 cm). Chain and pendant together weigh 2.4 grams.
Date: Circa 1880 - 1890. A simple modern date chain with a simple very fine weight of 14k white gold.
Note: All diamond and gem weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
