Three of Hearts - Antique Diamond Ring

SOLD Item 10962

Although we traditionally link the heart image with love, the ancients considered the icon as the mark of a sincere person who spoke the truth.

Symbolism notwithstanding, this heart shaped ring is set with three (3) central diamonds: one old European cut and two transitional brilliant cuts of approximately .33 carats each and one of approximately .15 carats. The shoulders are accented with four additional single and transitional cuts of about .01 to .02 carats each, two diamonds per side with a total diamond weight of approximately .86 carats of glittering brilliance.

Colors range from G-H, clarity SI1 for the larger central stones. All gemstones are mounted into a platinum topped 14k gold setting.

The heart measures 3/8 of an inch (1 cm) by 3/8 of an inch (1 cm) and the ring weighs 2.8 grams. Currently a size US 6 1/2 (British M 1/4; Euro 13.75, 53 mm) and can be sized to fit most any hand. In excellent condition, one diamond has a tiny area of scratching on one corner near a tip; light wear overall to the gold. Dates to circa 1930-1935.

Note: All diamond weights and color grades are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
