Regency Era Diamond & Emerald Ring
This early 19th century rose gold antique ring has been designed as a flower head. A cluster with a fine lush green emerald approximately 4.5 mm across is framed with a border of sixteen (16) old mine cut diamonds. Eight of the diamonds are small mêlées; the other eight range in size from about .03 to .05 carats with an estimated total diamond weight of between .24 to .40 carats. All gems are set into ringed crimped collets which provide the perfect mounts. The cluster is embraced by delicately crafted trifurcated rose gold shoulders which gracefully descend into a smooth unadorned shank.
Measures less than 5/8 of an inch (1.9 cm) and rises from the finger 1/8 of an inch (0.3 cm). Weighs 2.8 grams. Currently a size US 6-1/2 (British M; Euro 17.00, 54 mm) and can be sized up or down. In very good condition; old sizing on the back exterior is evident with very close inspection; one small diamond has been re-set or replaced. English in origin and dates to circa 1820.
Note: All diamond and gem weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
Important: This ring should not be exposed to water, cleaning products or harsh chemicals due to the foil backed gems. If considering this as an engagement ring, please keep this in mind.
