19th Century Halley’s Comet Brooch
In a blaze of glory this shimmering Georgian era comet brooch streaks across the heavens with a very white central cushion cut paste in a crimped collet silver setting mounted into a tail of rose gold. Typically sized under 1 inch, this antique pin is petite in scale yet sports a long pin stem designed as a safety mechanism by placing the long tip back into the folds of fabric onto which it is fastened. Beautifully crafted with an eye towards simplicity and taste.
Measurements: 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in length including pin stem and just shy of ¾ of an inch (1.8 cm) without by 5/16 of an inch (0.7 cm) in width.
Condition: Good; three small dents and a bit of oxidation on the reverse; possible restoration to base of pin stem.
