Edwardian Banded Agate Locket
Lockets carry with them a real sense of tradition. Typically given as a gift of love, they hold within a keepsake, a memory, a photo.
Oval in shape, this Edwardian era locket is crafted from banded agate. One side of the locket has horizontal layers of the banded agate; the other sports vertical bands. A triumph of colors ranging from caramel to coco, chocolate to café au lait, milky white to sable brown—all are enclosed within bezels of textured 9k rose gold.
Hinged, the locket opens readily using a thumbnail catch and closes securely. Perfectly lovely as a pendant or as a charm dangling from a bracelet.
Condition: Excellent with light wear commensurate with age and use; otherwise fine.
Hallmarks: Marked “9 ct”.
Measurements: More than 1 inch (2.6 cm) by just shy of 7/8 of an inch (2.1 cm) by ½ of an inch (1.3 cm) in thickness. The locket has a weight of 11.6 grams.
Date & Origin: Circa 1900 – 1910; English in origin.
