Moonstone Art Nouveau Ring
Moonstones have an ethereal quality and glow that lies unmatched in the world of gemstones. Here we have an oval cabochon moonstone of approximately .83 carats enclosed by a setting in 15k gold. The moonstone radiates with flashes of blue that playfully interact with the light reflected from the yellow gold mount. The mount and shoulders are ornamented with abstract floral forms and lovely detailing. Scalloped edges subtly highlight the sides only to transition into a smooth unadorned band. Some moonstone dull on the finger, but this enlivens when worn with deeper blues.
Measures ½ of an inch (0.9 cm) at the widest and has a weight of 3.5 grams. The stone is 5.7 mm by 7.5 mm and has a depth of 2.7 mm. Currently a size US 7-1/2 (British O-1/2; Euro 17.75, 56 mm) and can be sized by our team of jewelers. In very good condition with light wear to the gold; the ring is enrobed with a fine smooth patina only time can create. Dates to circa 1910 – 1915.
Note: All gemstone weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
