Victorian Garnet Cufflink Buttons in Box
For some of us the collecting and wearing of antique jewelry has become a passion. However, within that group exists a small contingent that holds the tenet of acquiring the piece with its original presentation box as a transcendental moment.
Beautiful garnets the color of a fine burgundy wine have been coupled with antique yellow gold to fabricate a set of two (2) circa 1870 cuff buttons. Each of this pair of distinctively shaped carbuncles has been set into a 15k yellow gold bezel with a twisted wire work surround. The reverse displays a wonderful crescent moon shaped footing that will fit most modern day button and cuff openings with no problem. Accompanying these gems is the original deep blue velvet and silk lined presentation box of mahogany brown leather.
Measures 9/16 of an inch long by 5/16 of an inch wide by 1/2 inch deep (1.6 cm by 1.4 cm by 1.3 cm deep). Condition is very good with light overall wear to the gold; minute surface wear to stones and one tiny loss to one side visible only upon extremely close inspection or with magnification; one cabochon with two small scratches and a tiny nick visible with very close inspection or a loupe).
