Antique Leaf Scent Bottle Pendant Charm

Miniature scent bottles tantalize the collector in all of us. Perhaps it is the small scale or maybe because the work that goes into the creation amazes us. Crafted in a stylized form of a leaf, a canvas of white porcelain has been decorated with hand painted black and gold leaf motifs. Capped with a yellow gold gilt over silver hinged top, it is equipped with a moveable swivel-type and “O” fitting for suspending from a chain or ribbon and worn as a pendant or charm.

Although it lacks the internal stopper, the condition is very good. Both the porcelain and paint are in excellent condition; a bit of wear to gilt on top and cap with some silver showing through. Top hallmarked with what may be the head of a dog and possibly with a French or Austrian mark.

Measures 2-3/8 inches (6 cm) long by 3/4 of an inch (2 cm) in width by approximately 3/8 of an inch (0.7 cm) deep. Dates to circa 1890 and is Continental in origin.
