Edwardian Diamond & Opal Ring

$2,950 USD Item 10744

Endowed with characteristic Edwardian grace this opal and diamond 18k yellow gold top cluster ring (with re-shanked 14k gold band) has an endless and dramatic theatre of mutating colors. This 8.5 mm by 6.2 mm by 2.6 mm opal of approximately .80 carats shines and sparkles with magnificent greens, blues, pinks and oranges. A surround of twelve (12) old mine cut diamonds of .05 carats apiece light up the opal and the night sky with their radiance and shine. The shoulders of the shank are accented with two (2) additional old mine cuts of about .02 carats and brings the total estimated diamond weight to .64 carats. The gems have a color range of I-J and clarity of SI.

Measures ½ of an inch (1.3 cm) by more than 3/8 of an inch (1 cm) and rises from finger just less than ¼ of an inch (0.6 cm). It has a weight of 3.2 grams. Currently a size US 5-1/4 (British J-1/2; Euro 15.75, 50 mm) and can be easily sized by our jewelers. Condition is very good; one diamond has a tiny chip visible with a loupe. The ring has been re-shanked in 14k gold.

Dates to circa 1910.

Note: All diamond weights and color grades are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
