Forever More: Diamond Eternity Band
Eternity bands possess a sense of timelessness and classic elegance that transcends the capricious nature of fashion. Crafted of white 14k gold, thirty (30) single cut diamonds (of approximately .03 carats each) unite to bring a total diamond weight of approximately .90 carats and is sure to bring a brilliance to any woman’s eye.
The single cut diamond has a total of 18 facets and a very large table. This cut is most often used in the 19th and early 20th century although we see its use in earlier jewelry as well.
Measures 4 mm or 5/32 of an inch in thickness and has a weight of 4.9 grams. Currently a size US 6 to 6.25 (UK L-1/2; Euro 16.5, 52.5 mm). Due to the construction, it cannot be sized. In excellent condition. Circa 1945 – 1955-65.
Historical note: According to Newman’s “An Illustrated Dictionary of Jewelry”, the history of the eternity ring extends back into antiquity, an example being known from Ur 4,000 years ago.
Note: All diamond weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
