Gentleman’s Antique Carnelian Ring c.1900
With a clear influence of Art Nouveau, this handsome antique ring sports a cabochon carnelian that is 11 cm by 14 cm. Worn in antiquity as protection, this very deep opaque brick red stone has been paired with a 14k rose gold mount finely ornamented with deep swirls, scrolls and S-curves associated with the Nouveau style.
Measures 5/8 of an inch (1.5 cm) at the widest and has a weight of 8.4 grams. Currently a size US 6-3/4 (British N; Euro 17, 54 mm) and can sized to fit most. Hallmarked 14k. Condition is good with heavy wear at the very back obscuring the scrollwork; medium to light wear overall. American in origin and dates to circa 1900. A man’s ring that can easily be worn by a woman.
