Golden King: Lion Bloodstone Fob
Perhaps the most noble of all creatures, the lion has long been emblematic of valor, courage and strength. Although small in scale at just less than 1 inch (2.4 cm) at its highest by 1 inch (2.5 cm) at widest, this lion possesses every one of those qualities and more. He poses “statant” with all four feet upon the ground and weighs a massive 10.3 grams which includes the un-carved natural bloodstone base (1 inch or 2.5 cm by less than ¾ of an inch or 1.8 cm). As is typical of most fobs, he has been plated with 15k gold and cast with many fine details. His undisputed strength is apparent with muscles flexed. He roars with a ferocity that defines his kingly status as bolts as lighting flash from his red garnet cabochon eyes. In excellent condition with one area on the inside of one back leg showing black patina; the bloodstone has some play but is securely attached to the gold base. Dates to circa 1910.
