Deco Delight: Ruby & Diamond Dangles
Understated and sophisticated, these Art Deco dangle earrings present a sleek streamlined form. Diamonds and rubies vie for all the attention with a juxtaposition of bold contrasting colors. With a pronounced vertical and geometrical line and set into 18k rose gold, each earring has an array of sparking gems: nine (9) rose cut diamonds (all melees) and nine (9) channel set rubies comprise the body of the earring. The earring is accented on the surmount and at the bottom with an old European cut diamond of approximately .10 to .12 carats each (.40 to .48 total diamond weight for the pair). A lever back ear wire of 18k rose gold completes the look and allows for ease of placement and comfortable wearing.
Measures 1-1/4 inches (3.2 cm) in length including ¼ of an inch (0.8 cm) ear wire by 3/16 of an inch (0.5 cm) across. The pair weighs 2.2 grams. Condition is very good; one minor repair to gold work at top side of ruby arch. General light wear, otherwise fine. Continental in origin and dates to circa 1925 – 1930.
Note: All gem weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
