Sway the Night Away: Art Deco Paste Earrings
Short boyish hairstyles brought long pendant drop earrings back into vogue during the 1920s. With a verticality of design that mirrored the simple lean and long lines of the fashions of the day, this pair of antique Art Deco earrings are set with the contrasting colors of blue and white. Set in silver, clear white pastes form a long chain that suspends a circular drop encrusted with a large faceted white paste stone surrounded by a perimeter of blue faceted calibre cut pastes. Emphatically geometrical in design with a pronounced elongated shape, these earrings easily sway and bring a gracefulness to any movement.
Measuring 1-3/4 inches in length including the ear wire by just less that 7/8 of an inch at the widest (4.5 cm long by 1 cm wide). In very fine condition; 15k gold ear wires are a later addition replacing the original screw-back fittings. Dates to circa 1925. Slim, swingy and somewhat cheeky.
