A Typical English Watercolor
The quiet and serene...a moment in time captured with the utmost sensitivity. In the background powerful azure hills lazily recline on the land. Accompanying a herdsman bestride a donkey and a shepherd with a small flock of sheep rests a sleepy lake with nary a ripple. Their path leads into the distance. Typically English for the day, circa 1830 is a watercolor on paper in a maple frame with gilded wood inner molding.
Measures 5-9/16 inches high by 6-1/2 inches wide by 3/4 inches thick (14.2 cm long by 16.4 cm wide and 2 cm thick). The old metal ring on top adds 15/16 of an inch to the length. Condition is excellent with the paper a golden brown or light sepia overall. The frame may not original to the watercolor but is entirely of antique wood. Some darkening to the crevices between the joints of the frame.
