Renewal and birth, buds and growth, Spring and Summer...and pearls and femininity - each is timeless and eternal. Meticulously strung upon a mother-of-pearl backing, the mood of this floral motif brooch is exuberant and fresh. In wonderful condition (many of these have been repaired time and time again) the original cat gut appears intact as does the pearl work, frame and pin mechanisms. A petite spray of flowers is accompanied by asymmetrically designed stems and leaves.
Measures 2-3/8 inch (6 cm) by 1-1/8 inch (2.8 cm). Circa 1850, this is most likely English in origin. Often worn in suites, brides donned these for their wedding day. Today, pearls adorn and enliven most any outfit...jeans to evening wear.
