Secrets Kept - Victorian Diamond Locket Ring

SOLD Item 10267

An eye-catching Victorian sentimental or memorial ring is rendered in black enamel and 18k yellow gold. An open-backed old mine cut diamond (approximately .12 carats) is cradled within the center of a seven-petal golden flower form. Sensuous scrolling and floral motifs of yellow gold grace each shoulder as it segues into a tapered band of gold.

The interior of the band holds a secret…concealed from view lies a locket compartment still retaining its original glass cover and rim. Inside remains the cloth which once held a wisp of hair now lost to the passage of time. The hidden compartment is flanked with the engraved initials “HCC” and the date “18th Oct 1855”.

Measures just less than ¼ of an inch (0.5 cm) in width and has a weight of 2.4 grams. Currently a size US 6-1/4 (British M; Euro 16.75, 53 mm) and can be sized by our expert jewelers. In very good condition with gentle wear and light loss of enamel, otherwise fine. Dates to 1855.

Note: All diamond weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
