Antique Diamond Greyhound Dog Ring
A homage to the dog, and the coursing dog no less, this is a superbly crafted ring. The subject is a running greyhound, complete with racing silk and lead. Captured in a full run, the dog in rendered in pure loving detail. Fashioned of silver topped 14k gold, note the minute workmanship of the legs, the ruby set eye and the tail flashing back in the wind. Even the band is out of the ordinary, and angled on the outside and at every panel is an intricate design of silver.
Antique rose cut diamonds, along with old mine diamonds encrust the surface of the dog. Sixteen (16) tiny rose cuts highlight five (5) small old mine cut diamonds. The estimated total diamond weight is .20-.25 carats. The dog measures 15/16 inches long by 1/4 inch high (2.3 cm long by .6 cm wide)and thus extends beyond the sides of the finger. In excellent condition, it is hallmarked 14k and American in origin. Size 6 1/2 (UK M 1/4: Euro 17; 53 mm). Circa 1925.
