Pearl Diamond Antique Heart Pendant Brooch
The enigmatic heart motif rises above with a flourish in this 14k yellow gold Victorian era pendant brooch. Pearls, pearls and more pearls…graduated in sizes ranging from 2 mm to just less than 1 mm, one hundred and twenty-one (121) natural creamy gray to white pearls form an exquisite shell-like design. With a radiance that challenges the luster of the pearls, two (2) old European cut diamonds (approximately .10 and .04 carats) recline among the sea bed, each with a singular brilliance. This pendant brooch flows with the elegance associated with Edwardian design.
With its dual nature as a pendant and brooch, a cleverly designed hinged pendant fitting folds down when worn as a brooch. Pin and pendant hinges, clasp, and pin stem are all original. Fine modern 14k yellow gold chain is included.
Pendant measures 1-1/8 inches (2.8 cm) in height by 7/8 of an inch (2.2 cm) in width. Modern chain measures 16-1/4 inches (41.3 cm) in total length. Together they have a weight of 5.8 grams. In very good condition; reinforcement to base of pin clasp. Dates to circa 1890 – 1900 and is most likely American in origin.
Note: All diamond weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
