Security & Shipping
Security
Many people are uncomfortable letting their treasure or family heirlooms out of their hands. This is understandable. However, expertise and knowledge about antique jewelry is often not just around the corner. Jewelers and diamond dealers around the country entrust tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and gems to the United States Postal Service each day via "Registered Mail". We recommend using this form of shipping when transporting items to us or returning items to us.
Registered Mail
This is a service provided by the United States Post Office. It is handled separately from all other forms of mail. Each person in the post office who touches the package or envelope is required to sign their name to an internal form. It is slower than say, Priority Mail, but is far more secure. It is also inexpensive, and parcels can be insured for up to $25,000. Also, it includes proof of mailing at the time of mailing and the date and time of delivery or attempted delivery.
Instructions
1. Postal regulations require that items be boxed (it is best in a heavy cardboard box) and be taped only with paper tape. Many Post Offices will tape the box for you, but you may wish to call and ask to verify this.
2. It is best to address the parcel directly on the cardboard (rather than affixing a label which can be removed) and include a return address.
3. There is a short registered mail form to fill out which includes a place to note the insurance amount and check off that you wish to have insurance. Please ensure you do insure the package.
4. Important: Keep all receipts together until there is confirmation from us that the package has been received as these are your proof of mailing and insurance.
Our Address
Packages can be mailed to us at The Three Graces, P.O. Box 1467, San Marcos, Texas 78667. Please let us know once an item is mailed and we will notify you when it is received.
UPS & Federal Express Shipments
Federal Express & UPS exclude antiques and jewelry from their covered insurance. For this reason we do not recommend using this method of shipping back to us. UPS does have a provision but you must prove the items worth and again for this reason, we do not advise sending it either method. The Three Graces has insurance coverage with a private carrier for Federal Express & UPS that will cover antique jewelry. Therefore, please contact us if you wish to use this method of shipping for further instructions and insurance.
